THAI NICOLE - R&B / POP ARTIST - By: Ani Galestanian
Where is your hometown, and what was it like growing up there?
Sacramento, California is my hometown. I come from a close nit family. Growing up, consisted of many family gatherings and also church every Sunday. Summertime fun with family and friends, and not to mention making sure I was in the house before the street lights came on. The weather here has always been pleasurable and I have come to truly appreciate all that the city itself has to offer.

Today we are here interviewing with R&B Pop artist Thai Nicole
Thai, thanks for interviweing with us today.
Your very welcome. Thanks for having me.

You have created quite a name for yourself in a short period of time.
Lets spend a litttle time getting to know Thai Nicole.

Has being in the music business changed your life, if so in what way?
Yes. Being in the industry has changed my life in many ways. It has made me be a business woman, it has matured my style, and also my thought process. The many obstacles I have faced; taught to keep faith, stay humble, and to never compromise who I am or what I believe in.

Has music always been a part of your life?
Yes, music has been a part of my entire life. For as long as I can remember I have been singing. I would sing my sentences and act out my own shows for audiences, at the early age of five.

When did you get discovered by Tack Entertainment Group and how long have you been there?
I was discovered by Tack Entertainment while in the R&B group Timeliss in 2009.
My manager Kenneth Hall, Co-Managed the Group. When the group went its separate ways I became a solo artist with the company.

The cameras and the media seems to have a natural attraction for you when you're in the building at a show. How does that make you feel?
I have been receiving a lot of love from every angle and it makes me feel truly grateful and is very welcoming. It gives me a sense of belonging and that alone makes it all worthwhile.

You have a deep passion for music, it reveals itself in all of your performances.
Tell us about that passion.
My passion for music lives within me. I have had it for as long as I can remember. I enjoy the freewill to express myself through my music. Its therapy to the soul whether you are a singer, lyricist, dancer, producer, or just a fan. Music is inspiring.

When did you start to look at your music as a career?
I began to really look at my music as a career in 2009. I began to study the business and work on
perfecting my talent and my appearance. I wanted to be taken seriously in this industry and I wanted to gain more knowledge of the industry itself, not just the glitz and glam of it.

In 2006 you auditioned for American Idol, what was that experience like for you, before and after?
Auditioning for American Idol Was an experience I will never forget. Camping outside, meeting people from all over the world, and just to go through the AI process was phenomenal.
After not making the cut, I was just grateful for the experience and felt like that wasn't my calling. The rejection made me push harder and strive more for success.

You have a very mature and welcoming personality that attracts good people to you,
are you a spiritual person that knows the Lord?
Thank you for that. Yes, I am very spiritual and I definitely know the Lord personally. I'm a firm believer and without Him I would be lost.

How would you describe your music?
I would describe my music as passionate and powerful.

You recently performed at the Black Expo in Sacramento, Ca on July 1st. How was that
performance and how did they respond to your music?
The performance at the California Black Expo went great!! I felt comfortable and fulfilled on stage.
The crowd loved the show and took to me very well. It was a great event and I was glad
to be a part of it.

"Classy" is the word that comes to mind when I think of Thai Nicole. How would you
describe yourself in 5 words?
Humble, fun, motivated, loving, and confident.

You have several things going on with your music at this time. Your
name and face has appeared on several show casings throughout the United States.
What is it about Thai Nicole that the people have come to admire  and love so much?
I would say they take to me because I have positive energy and the vibe I tend to show others, is that of a loving one. I am a kind person and I try my best to be an inspiration to others.

2010 was not a comfortable time for you. You were involved in a tragic car accident that almost
claimed your life. What was that period in time like for you?
That period in time for me was depressing in a way but I had a lot of support and prayers going up for me. I would get really sad and cry sometimes not only because I almost lost my life, but I was not able to sing. It was like a part of me was ripped away and I didn't know if I would ever get it back. I felt empty but I continued to have faith and I continued to write even though my voice was gone. I wasn't going to just quit! Along with a cracked larynx, taking my ability to speak or sing, I also was in a lot of pain throughout my body. The only thing I could do was wait for time to pass and even still the doctor said it wasn't a for sure to come back.

Who was there by your side and supported you most in your time of need?
My family would not leave my side and I couldn't ask for a better support system. ( I even had a bell I would ring for "service") "laughs". My friends also never left my side. I was told the waiting room was packed and people would come into my hospital room with hugs, flowers, and kind words.

How long did it take you to recover?
My management, family and I thought it was best that I fully
recover before continuing on to pursue my career. It took me almost two years to get back in full effect. My welcome back performance was in March 2012 and the ball has been rolling ever since.

Mentally how did it effect you not being able to do what you loved
to do most which is, singing and performing?
I just felt empty but I had to think positively. Not being able to sing or perform was horrible.

Did you have faith that one day you would return to the stage and bright lights?
Yes, I did have faith and so did everyone around me. "Faith will see you through!"

How do you feel about women in music today?
I love and respect the women in the industry today. It's a tough business and they
have been doing an amazing job at what they do.

How are you giving back to your community?
I have been doing a lot of performances for non-profit organizations, fundraisers, and volunteer work throughout the community. This is only the beginning, I have big dreams and high hopes and I will always give back.

What are some of the things we can look forward to seeing from Thai Nicole?
My single will be dropping late August. I will be in Glam Couture Magazine, I will also be a judge and performer for the Miss Global International Pageant. Further along in my career, hopefully I will have a clothing line, jewelry line, and perfume line. Fingers crossed!!

What advice do you have for young women looking to get into the music industry?
I would say, "keep your faith, your morals, and values strong. Stay focused and keep good people in your corner".

Where can we go to hear more of your music?
As of now, I have some cover songs up on Youtube and also Reverbnation.
Stay tuned for my original music coming soon!!!

Thank you for taking the time out to interview with us today. We wish you much successs.
