REZZO - Bakersfield, California

- By Courtney Cherry

About two thirds of the way from the Bay to LA is a city called Bakersfield, California. You may not think much of it, especially when it comes to breeding hot, young, fresh musical talent, but an artist that goes by the name Rezzo Sway Giggz is getting ready to blow and he's putting his city on the map!

It started nine years ago when Rezzo, government name Daniel Watkins, was dancing with his crew and dreaming of the day he could make his music a reality. At the time, he had no microphone, let alone a studio and knew nothing about recording his writings.

"I am very determined, motivated and a fast learner" he says, and while dancing was what came more natural, his belief in the later is what really allowed him to step up his game.

He wrote as much as he could and taught himself all things production. Three years later he give birth to an artist, whose been rocking shows and opening up for some of the majors.

Everybody from YG, Baby Bash and rap legend Lazy Bone of Bone Thugs and Harmony has opened their shows with Rezzo. Most recently he had the honor of opening for hip-hop heavy hitter 2 Chainz at the Visalia Convention Center in Visalia, California and you know that house was packed. With no where to go but up from there, Rezzo has headlined his own shows at places like the Ghalebs Hooka Lounge in Fresno and the Ugly Duck in San Bernardino.

"I feel I can bring much to the table and learn more in the process," says Rezzo who professes that his style is adaptable. He characterizes himself as funny and fun loving which is more than apparent in the music he makes. Listening to his songs you can't help but bounce, nod your head and feel yourself! As an artist and a person Rezzo in visions himself as a product and wants to make his stuff some of the best product out. "Hopefully you feel the vibe of my music", and with over 700,000 you tube views and 30,000 twitter followers somebody is most certainly feeling his vibe. Rezzo's hard work is finally paying off for him. He recently signed to a major management company called PTE/SODMG the same company that manages Soljah Boy.

Speaking of the music, his recent single "Compare", which will be featured on his up coming album "Nightlife & Temptation", can be found and purchased on iTunes. He has a mix tape out right now called Bout that Time, and while he certainly gives you classic samples he also gives you original cuts like "Make it Rain". Rezzo recently released a video for that song on Vevo.

"Even if you stumble your still moving forward" and moving forward for him includes plans to make more videos, quality music and keep pushing his projects independently while remaining loyal to his soil. It's clear that he has a formula. Combine catchy hooks with a playeristic flow and add a dash of school boy charm. You can tell he's authentic and isn't trying to portray an image that's not him. The industry better get ready to start checking for this guy and more importantly Bakersfield should be mighty proud of the prince!
